How consent works here

Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, only cookies strictly necessary to deliver a site can be set without permission. Everything else has to wait, and on this site it does: the analytics and affiliate measurement cookies stay dormant until the notice at the bottom of the screen is answered.

Choosing Essential only costs you nothing. Every page, link, table and resource on this site works identically either way, and the choice itself is remembered locally so the notice stops reappearing.

Strictly necessary

• Consent preference. Stores your answer to the cookie notice in your browser's local storage so it is not asked again. It holds one word — your choice — and nothing else. Kept until you clear your browser storage.
• Hosting and security. The hosting platform may set a short-lived cookie to route requests correctly and to protect against automated abuse. It carries no information about you and expires with the session.

Optional, and only after you agree

• Analytics. Counts page views and which links get followed, in aggregate, so we can see which reviews are actually read. No advertising profile is built and no data is passed to advertisers. Typically expires within 24 months.
• Affiliate measurement. Records that a visit to an operator came from this site, so commission can be attributed correctly. It identifies the referral, not the person, and its lifetime is set by the operator's affiliate platform — commonly 30 to 90 days.
